Ryan Palmer (FJ ICON style #52005, SciFlex glove) nearly chipped in for eagle on the 72nd hole but left himself just a tap-in for birdie and the win at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Palmer was tied for the lead on the 18th and after both competitor's left their tee shots in the right rough it was a battle to see who would get up-and-down, or better, for the win. Palmer's challenger chipped to about 9 feet from behind the green and then watched as Palmer's chip raced towards the hole, hit the flag stick and backed up just a few inches.

“Lucky bounce,” Palmer said. “It was probably going to go by 7 or 8 feet. I still hit a good chip. You need things like that to win.”

For Palmer, who finished with a 15-under 265 total, it was his third career victory and first since the 2008 Ginn sur Mer Classic. It gives the 33-year-old Texan exemption on the PGA Tour through 2012 and a trip back to the Masters for the first time in five years.

Remember, every week on the PGA Tour, when FJ Wins, You Win. Enter now for a chance to win a pair of FJ ICON golf shoes and a SciFlex glove, just like Ryan Palmer was wearing on Sunday.

Ryan di what it takes to win, yes the chip at the last got real lucky but like he said in every win there are momments like that that happen. Do feel sorry for Allenby but my guess is he will come out on top down the road.

Hmmm... what if FJ wins in every contest this year... I would be sure to snag some swag then right?!

Congratulations to Palmer and FJ on a fantastic victory.

Congrats FootJoy on 2 greats wins to start off the Pro year!

I watched full coverage of both these tournaments and they both provided top class; exciting golf in beautiful surroundings!

Bodes well for the rest of 2010, especially with all the doom-sayers!

Another FJ winner! Congrats to Ryan Palmer. Two tournaments... two FJ wins. I see a trend!

well what can you say, Ryan Palmer didnt get bothered by the big names at the top, with former major champions up on the top of the leaderboard with him.  After watching this kid play, there should be alot more of this in the future...

I used to work the Sony for Shot Link. On the surface, the course looks easier that others but it’s a competitor's course where it was easy to get off line and it cost you a stroke. At the same time it was also a course where it was possible to make very interesting recovery shots if you had it in your repertoire. Great wins aren't lucky, a great shot is a great shot, well done Ryan.
