The second half of the '10 - '11 FJ catalog shoot took place in Miami at the CA Championship. The CA Championship takes place on the Blue Course (aka "The Blue Monster") at the famous Doral Resort and Spa. The FJ team had its work cut out with a packed schedule of 17 players over two days. In addition to still photography, we took the opportunity to get tons of content for the FJ Community! The course and constantly changing south Florida weather provided many different backdrops for our talented catalog and photography teams. Overall, we had great weather; much better than what is expected for the four tournament rounds.
DAY 1
On the set for our first day of shooting were Ben Crane, Michael Sim, Zach Johnson, Camilo Villegas, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Rory McIlroy, Hunter Mahan and Padraig Harrington.
The highlights from Day 1 included 4 new shoe product reveals. Hunter and Rory got a look at a sweet new FJ ICON pattern, Zach Johnson slipped on a super high-tech new SYNR-G and Padraig got a peek at our latest FJ Sport designs. All the guys are very happy to get an inside look at what will be showing up in their lockers later this summer.
Also on Day 1 came the highly anticipated unavailing of our newest FJ outerwear collection. Zach Johnson and Michael Sim had a chance to trial these totally redesigned pieces and show them off in front of the camera.
DAY 2
The final day of shooting consisted of Nick Watney, Ross Fisher, Lee Westwood, new dad Luke Donald, Ian Poulter, Steve Stricker and Bill Haas.
Aside from Strick, all Day 2 players were FJ ICON wearers. Some players choose more conservative styles like Watney, Fisher and Westwood while others like Donald and Poulter take advantage of MyJoys to add a more personal custom touch.
As far as product reveals, Ian and Lee both got a look at the new FJ ICON pattern, which they both loved. We are pushing to get Ian something to debut at a very notable event in early April =)
The day wrapped with two of our FJ Outerwear players, Steve Stricker and Billy Haas, swinging for the camera in some beautiful and contemporary new rainwear and layering pieces.
Other notable happenings over the two days included players raving about their various FJ gloves. Lee Westwood (Pure Touch) put it well when he said that consistency and fit of his glove are key because it's the only piece of equipment between you and the club. It's also very surprising to us that not everyone (including PGA players) had heard about our revolutionary TechSof socks. Very much like a glove, the socks provides the only connection between your foot and the performance technologies inside our shoes. They provide a solid base for platform stability and in-shoe temperature regulation that last throughout the entire round. The players were immediately grasping this concept and took samples to try during the upcoming weeks.
All in all, a busy trip that should deliver some wonderful imagery for our upcoming '10 - '11 FJ catalog. Stay tuned ... it hits golf shops near you in July.

Team FJ recently participated in the 2010 NFL Hardlines Summit. The summit, which was held for the eighth year, showcases non-apparel team and league-themed merchandise. We were onsite to show team buyers the latest and greatest from the NFL licensed products portion of our MyJoys program, most notably, the integration of our premium FJ ICON shoes. Each year, the event is held at a different NFL stadium. This year it was held at the brand new, and gorgeous, Cowboys Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys...a far cry from last year when the summit was held at (a very frigid) FedEx Field, home of Dallas' rival the Washington Redskins.
Once we arrived at Cowboys Stadium, we had the entire day to set up and prepare for the following days events. At first glance, one can be easily taken back by the size of this new stadium. This astonishing facility measures approximately 3 million-square-feet and can accommodate more than 100,000 fans. During our stay, we had the unique pleasure of meeting Mr. Jerry Jones (owner and CEO of the Cowboys) for a few short moments and during our meeting, he reminded everyone that in less than one year, Cowboys Stadium would be hosting Super Bowl XLV.
I was intrigued by Mr. Jones in how involved he was with the project of building Cowboys Stadium. The stadium is one of the few (if not the only) football stadium that incorporated local works of art hand picked by Mr. Jones. As you view the slideshow, you'll notice an array of lighting fixtures that Mr. Jones helped design and layout in one of the many luxury suites at Cowboy Stadium. I was amused at how he described the process for choosing his carpets and floor tiles. He referred to the process as if he was remodeling his own living room. From counter tops to plush chair fabric to unique door signage, Mr. Jones had a complete handle on every operation that took place in building this stadium. It's easy to see why Mr. Jones is extremely proud of his gorgeous gem.
Throughout our stay, the lone star state offered us sunny skies and great climate. We had a great few days showcasing our products and a great opportunity to listen to Jerry Jones deliver a gratifying speech regarding the growth of the NFL as a brand and the Dallas Cowboys as a franchise in how it relates to golf and many other industries.
One key takeaway for FJ was finding ways to bring more distribution and excitement to our accounts and consumers.
Leave a comment and let us know what you think. Have you seen NFL MyJoys shoes in your local area; at the stadium shop, in a on or off course pro shop, or on golfers at the course? If you haven't seen these great products, check out MyJoys.com for more.

Camilo Villegas (FJ golf shoes, StaSof glove) shot a final-round 68 to win the Honda Classic by five shots Sunday, his third PGA Tour victory and a perfect way to cap a week that featured a lot of travel and a lot of celebration. The win also marks the eighth win for FootJoy players in the first 10 PGA Tour events this season. Once again, when FJ WINS, YOU WIN so enter here for your chance to win.
Camilo, who became just the fourth player under the age of 30 with at least three Tour wins, finished at 13-under 267, the lowest 72-hole score since the Honda moved to PGA National in 2007. And Villegas made it look easy most of the way, too. He led by only two after four holes, but three straight birdies – starting with a 25-footer on No. 8 – sent Villegas to 15 under and six shots clear of the field. He capped the day in style with a 20-footer for birdie on the 72nd hole, then raised both hands skyward.
Villegas didn’t even play a practice round at PGA National this week. After finishing tied for eighth at the Phoenix Open, Villegas headed back to his native Colombia on Monday to help open the Nationwide Tour’s Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open, the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event in South America. After landing in South Florida on Wednesday, he teed it up Thursday morning on short rest and following two stellar rounds of 66, he had a share of the lead going into the weekend and was en route to his third career PGA Tour title.
“Tournaments are four rounds and I played three pretty good ones,” Villegas said. “I was lucky in one. It’s never as easy as you think. I played great the front nine, then I made a couple hiccups and missed some putts, but I stayed patient.”
