It IS a great course and has evolved from the Dave Hill comments during the 1970 US Open. I have been fortunate to have played the course a couple times since being a spectator at the 1970 US Open, and it is a stronger test of golf now. The changes have been quite good, though I do question the added length, as other changes could have been accomplished without the added length that might have been better for the tournament. The beauty of the course design is it can be made as difficult as necessary, and it can still be very playable for the average golfer.
