If you have watched or followed golf in the past two years there is a good chance you have seen three time major champion, Padraig Harrington on the television.  You may have also noticed something that looks a little different on his XPS-1's and thought to yourself, "What are those big red laces in his FootJoy's?"

These laces are adorned with the Special Olympics logo and according to Padraig, "I am sending a message of respect, acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities to millions of golf fans around the world”

Harrington has been very hands on during his time with the program, often visiting Special Olympic athletes and coaches to conduct golf training sessions.

Paddy became a spokesman for the Special Olympics back in May 2010 and selflessly demonstrates his support stating, "I am proud to be part of the Wear the Laces for Special Olympics initiative, tied together with my friends at Special Olympics; which I hope will raise awareness for the movement.”

The Wear the Laces campaign is simple: purchase red Special Olympics shoelaces online at www.wearthelaces.org and lace up your shoes!

The aim of the campaign is to raise vital funds and awareness for Special Olympics internationally, so that together we can create a world in which the largest disability population on earth leads healthy, vibrant lives, grounded in sports, health, and the determination to demonstrate their personal best to themselves and their communities.

You can order your laces online at http://www.gbnonline.co.uk/specialolympics  or www.wearthelaces.org

Swedish born PGA Tour rookie, Jonas Blixt (SciFlex) wrapped up his first career victory with a win at the Frys.com Open held at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, CA.  Entering the day one stroke back of the leader, Blixt shot one under on the front nine to remain in contention.  Adding a birdie on the 15th, tied Blixt for the lead.

After bombing his tee shot over the green on the driveable 17th hole, Jonas played a delicate flop shot that came to rest seven feet from the hole.  One of the best putters on tour, Blixt gently rolled the putt in center cut to take the outright lead.  Making par at the last earned him the victory.

“It’s unbelievable,” Blixt said. “I have no words right now. This is the biggest dream I’ve ever had.”

The win move Blixt to 35th on the money list and earns him a two year exemption on the PGA Tour.

World number two, Stacy Lewis wrapped up her third 2012 LGPA victory this past weekend by winning the Navistar LPGA Classic in Pratville, AL.  Fresh off a T8 in the British Open and the filming of our new "FJ. The Mark of a Player" commercial spots, Lewis did not let the the travel and extra obligations distract her.

Opening with rounds of 66, 70, and 65 gave Lewis a two shot cushion heading into the final round.  Lewis, using FJ LoPro Casual and StaSof, made an early bogey on the second hole but bounced back with birdies at the fifth and consecutive birdies at nine and ten to reach seventeen under par.  A late birdie at the par-three sixteenth gave her a two stoke lead with two strokes to play.  Stacy parred in giving her the title.

Lewis stated post round, “Winning never gets easier," adding, “I think it might have looked easy out there but it was hard.  Every shot was stressful, and I know on this golf course with one swing you can make a double pretty easy."

Lewis now has a commanding lead in the Rolex Player of the Year ranking.
