    Importance of Golf Shoe Fitting

Chances are pretty good that your golf shoes are not properly fit.  It's nothing personal.....it's just the facts! Through thousands of fittings we've conducted across the United States, Europe and Asia, we have found that 70% of golfers we fit are in the wrong size golf shoe. For most, the shoes are too big, and almost always, too wide. Do you regularly experience blisters on your feet? Are you able to slide your shoes off without untying the laces? Do you feel your feet sliding around inside of your shoes? Are the top two eyelets of your shoes very close together, or even touching? These are just a few signs that your shoes may be too large.

I can personally attest to this. When I first started at FJ I thought blisters were a part of the game and needed to be endured when breaking in a pair of shoes.  Throughout my High School and College golf careers most players carried bandages and tape in their bags for the inevitability of a blister.  One of my first days on the job, I was quickly informed my shoes were the wrong size!  Sitting with one of our fitters for a few minutes it was readily apparent that I didn't know the size of my own feet! Within minutes, I moved from an 10 Wide to a 10.5 Narrow and my feet have never been happier.  I have been blister and pain free for 5 years and counting.

A properly fit golf shoe is essential for you to play and feel your best on the golf course.  If your feet are moving around inside of the shoe you will not be able to maximize your energy into the golf ball.  Your feet and body will fatigue faster than someone who has a properly fit golf shoe.  It is a small simple change that can improve your game, your well being, and your overall enjoyment out on the course!

Feet do change over time and just because you have been wearing the same size for the past several years doesn't mean they are the right size golf shoes for you! It's worth checking, just to be sure.

The next time you visit the course, or your local golf shop, ask your shop associate about getting fit for your next pair of FJ golf shoes.

PGA Tour Rookie, Mackenzie Hughes emerged from a five man playoff to take home the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club.  Hughes shot an opening round of 9-under par 61 to take the early lead and never looked back. He held the lead or share of the lead after each round of competition.

When the final putt dropped on Sunday five players were tied a top the leaderboard. In the fading light of day they headed to a sudden death playoff.  They could only squeeze in two holes and a winner was not determined. The four players that were left headed to the par 3 17th hole on Monday morning to determine the champion.  Hughes holed an 18 foot par save on and no one could match making Hughes the winner.

This is the young Canadians first PGA Tour victory.

Hughes relied on the Pro/SL golf shoe throughout the week in Sea Island.

The win earns Hughes an invite into the 2017 Tournament of Champions and the 2017 Masters Tournament.

Henrik Stenson won the season long Race to Dubai title for the second time with a T9 at the DP World Tour Championship. Henrik elated at the accomplishment stated, “I'm very pleased to get my name on this trophy once again...It's been a great year, the best year of my career. I've always thought it was going to be hard to top 2013, but I think I've done that this year."

Stenson's year was highlighted by a legendary performance to win the Open Championship at Royal Troon. He also won the BMW International Open in Germany.  Stenson added three top two performances to wrap up the season long race.

Stenson relied on FJ ICON MyJoys golf shoes and the Pure Touch Limited golf glove throughout his 2016 campaign.

On the LPGA Tour, Ariya Jutanugarn won the season long Race to the CME Globe and Rolex Player of the Year awards. Ariya entered the 2016 season with no wins on her resume but ended the year with five titles.  Like Stenson, Ariya's year was highlighted by a major championship win at the RICOH Women's British Open.

Ariya relied on FJ ICON MyJoys golf shoes throughout the 2016 Season.

Former University of Alabama product, Justin Thomas successfully defended his CIMB Classic title at TPC Kuala Lumpur this weekend by erasing a four stroke deficit on the final day of competition!  JT carded eight birdies and no bogeys en route to a final round of eight under par to win by three strokes over his nearest competitor.

This is JT's second PGA Tour victory, with both coming at the CIMB Classic.

“I think the main thing right now is that I just played really well this week. I feel like I would have played a lot of courses really well but this place obviously suits my eye, and I think the fact that there's a lot of wedges and scoring clubs bodes well for me,” said Thomas post round.

Justin relied on FJ Icon MyJoys and Pure Touch Limited throughout his week in Malaysia.

Justin Thomas is pound for pound one of the longest players on the PGA Tour and he relies on the structured performance of the FJ ICON MyJoys golf shoes to harness all of his energy and deliver it into the golf ball. Below is a video of Top 100 Teaching Professional, Mark Blackburn and Dr. Sasho Mackenzie, a biomechanics expert, dissecting elements of Justin's swing that helps him produce such prodigious length off of the tee.

Reflecting back on the 2015-2016 PGA Tour season it is easy to recount notable performances by our favorite FJ Staffers,  Be it Adam Scott's back to back wins during the Florida swing, Henrik Stenson's record breaking Open Championship or Jimmy Walker's major break through at the PGA Championship, the 15-16 PGA Tour season did not disappoint!

In addition to those three, players wearing FJ golf shoes racked up 20 total wins on the PGA Tour during the season.  The winningest FJ shoe was DryJoys Casual, which superseded the new wildly popular Pro/SL golf shoe.  FJ ICON MyJoys also had a strong season highlighted by Justin Thomas' win at the CIMB Classic and Henrik's Open Championship!

FootJoy continues to top the leaderboards as the number one shoe, glove, sock and outerwear on the PGA Tour week in and week out. From the sheer variety of shoes offered to the players who trust FJ over any other brand, it goes to show just how many players rely on FJ to help them elevate their game!

Looking forward to the new season, the possibilities are endless and we cannot wait to watch it unfold!
