Fabrizio Zanotti survived a four man FJ playoff to capture the BMW International Open at Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof.

As regulation play ended four players sat at 19-under par for the first 72 holes. Zanotti, who fired a final round 7-under par 65, faced off against Gregory Havret (DryJoys Casual), Rafael Cabrera Bello, world number two Henrik Stenson.

Each player split with par on the first sudden death hole.  On the following hole Stenson (FJ ICON and Pure Touch Limited), Cabera Bello (D.N.A.), and Zanotti split with birdies.  They followed suit the third time around by each birdieing again.  On the fourth playoff hole Cabrera Bello's tee shot found the water and Zanotti and Stenson split with pars.  Now playing the fifth playoff hole Stenson's tee shot found the water, he then pitched into a bunker and promptly conceded the victory to the 31 year old Paraguayan.

“I knew today that if I made a good run I'd have a good chance. Today was my day," Zanotti stated post round. "I've been working a lot and trying to build my confidence to get to this moment and finally I'm here."

Zanotti relied on D.N.A. golf shoes and the StaSof glove during his triumph.  This is his first European Tour win and he becomes the first Paraguayan to win on the European Tour.

  • Congratulations to Fabrizio on his first European Tour win.  It must have given him much pride to be the first Paraguayan to win on the European Tour.  D.N.A. shoes are showing in a lot of winners circles in 2014 because of  comfort and performance.  I am sure beating the number two player in the world in a playoff had to be a highlight for Zanotti, as well.  A job well done.....

  • Great statistics all the way around !  Congrats FZ and Team FJ.....
