If you’re a FootJoy fan, the results of the 10th annual Tradition Cup will make you smile. Once again, FootJoy flexed its muscles in this Ryder Cup-style competition between the sales departments of the two brands. After suffering an admittedly brutal defeat in the 2007 cup, the FJ team responded with a dazzling display of golf. The 12 ½ to 7 ½ point victory gave FootJoy its 4th win in 5 years and brought the brand closer to Titleist in the overall standings (current cup total: Titleist 6, FJ 4).
FootJoy was lead by team captain Chris Kerr who, like the US Ryder Cup captain, orchestrated a dynamic strategy. Chris ensured a fast start for Footjoy by leading off with sales director Peter Pateline and FJ sales representative David Loveridge. The powerful team did not disappoint - grabbing a valuable ½ point in the front nine alternate shot format and a resounding 2 ½ points on the back nine best ball/match play competition. The early FJ momentum spread like wild fire to the rest of the team and FJ took an impressive 4 ½ of 5 total points available during the alternate shot session. Team Titleist attempted a Brookline comeback during the back nine match play sessions, but only managed to split the 10 available points. Once more, in the team best ball session, FootJoy showed its true team spirit and camaraderie - winning 3 of the available 5 points. Please enjoy the terrific pictures and official results.
