The endless hours Charley Hoffman spent working in his sand game paid off in a huge way Monday, leading to an impressive five shot victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship. After finishing last season ranked near the bottom in sand-save percentage, Hoffman began working with short-game specialist James Sieckmann and noticed immediate improvements. Every one else noticed the improvements late Monday afternoon. Tied for the lead and standing awkwardly in the greenside bunker at TPC Boston's 13th hole, the ball below his feet, Hoffman popped the ball out perfectly, landed it halfway to the pin that was 48 feet away, then watched it make a beeline right to the cup. Birdie. He hadn't just saved par, he gained a stroke and a lead that he wouldn't give away. "I can tell you right now -- if I wouldn't have met that guy (Sieckmann), I wouldn't have won this golf tournament," Hoffman said. "I could barely get it out of the bunkers before, pretty shocking. That was just one highlight of many for Hoffman who dropped 11 birdies en route to a memorable 9-under 62 that tied the tournament's 72-hole record of 22-under par. After starting the day four shots off the lead, Hoffman came roaring out of the gates with four birdies over the first five holes to jump into contention. Equally as noticeable as Hoffman's improved sand play were his color co-ordinated custom green StaSof glove and FJ ICON Asymmetrical golf shoes featuring a limited edition green caiman gator print. Robert Karlsson overcame Ian Poulter in a play-off to win the season-ending Dubai World Championship for his second victory of the year. Karlsson wore FJ ICON style #52005 (all white traditional saddle) and a StaSof glove while Poulter opted for another FJ ICON all-white pattern through the MyJoys program and a SciFlex glove. The pair finished regulation ties at 14-under after Karlsson, three behind overnight, started his final round with consecutive birdies and a hole out for eagle on the par four third hole. He had two more birdies on the back nine before a fantastic approach shot that almost hit the pin on the 18th, spun back and landed within a few feet of the hole. He converted the birdie to force the playoff. Karlsson and Poulter, who was looking to win for the second consecutive week, birdied the first extra hole after hitting approaches within five feet. At the second extra hole Poulter left himself 30 feet for birdie while Karlsson again hit an approach to within three feet.Poulter then called a one shot penalty on himself when he dropped his ball on his marker and moved it. Two putts meant a bogey six for Poulter, but the penalty was irrelevant as Karlsson holed his birdie putt for the victory.Karlsson, who won the European Tour Order of Merit in 2008 and has suffered a serious eye problem and glandular fever since then, said: "It was a strange day to say the least. To start birdie-birdie-eagle is not what you expect to happen when you are three behind."Then there was the one shot penalty. It's not the way you want to win, but these things happen in golf.“It's a fantastic field, and obviously when we have all of the best players in Europe together, the way it looks now, it's going to be a great field - so to win here is fantastic.”
This week’s FJ Tour Diary comes from Leopard Creek Country Club, Malelane, South Africa.Greetings from Leopard Creek Country Club in Malelane, South Africa and the start of the 2011 European Tour season! With the 2010 season finished, a week's rest for Team FJ flashed past and before we knew it, we where onboard a plane headed for Johannesburg. Not that we are complaining, leaving the cold, wet and snow behind!Leopard Creek must be one of the most stunning locations on tour. Bordering the world famous, Kruger National park, this 6631m, Gary Player designed course provides breath taking links, and breath taking scenery to match. Boasting a resident Hippo, Harry, and the mysterious and majestic Leopard, the players have to be on their toes in between, as well as playing their shots! With most of the elite European Tour's players taking a well earned rest over the festive period, this event provides the 'newbies' on tour to have a crack at the opening European Tour title of the 2011 season. One of the Challenge Tour graduates, Lee Slattery, got the 2011 season underway with the first tee shot in his FJ ICON MyJoys. Slat's, being the pin up he is, is very particular about his shoes. After a chat to Slat's we recommended he sends us his new colour swatch from his clothing sponsor’s latest range. This will allow us to customise the FJ ICON to match his 2011 clothing range, something Lee was keen to do. Look out for some 'Bobby Dazzlers' during the Desert Swing.Other FJ Ambassadors to 'graduate' include, Bernd Weisberger, Floris de Vries, Daniel Gaunt, Rob Dinwiddie and not to mention, the winner of the Challenge Tour OoM, Alvaro Velasco. The trip to South Africa also allows Team FJ to build relationships with our FJ Ambassadors who play primarily on the Sunshine Tour. J'be Kruger, was seen in the ever stylish 52005, and Justin Harding has a pair of 52187. He was also lucky enough to try the samples of the new FJ SciFlex glove.Welsh legend, and FJ Ambassador, Phillip Price, has expressed an interest in wearing FJ Shirts. Known for their excellent performance in all conditions, the FJ shirts have become a regular site on the fairways of the European Tour. The ProDry fabric wicks away moisture and also provides excellent thermal properties. We will be showing Phillip the 2011 shirt range next week at the South African Open, so he can pick out a few styles to try.FJ ICON advocate, Seve Benson's 2010 season was blighted by a prolonged back injury. This week sees Seve return to action for the first time since May, and he was quick to catch up with Team FJ to place an order for some MyJoys he had designed in his spare time! Part of Seve's order is below -Style: Traditional Style: Traditional Style: Traditional Base: White Smooth Base: Black Smooth Base: White Smooth Saddle: Chestnut Croc 47 Saddle: Black Cayman 604 Saddle: White Patent Laces: Brown Wax Laces: Black Wax Laces: White Wax Scot, David Drysdale, ordered a pair of both 52005 and 52070 ready for the first two South African events in 2011.An interesting bodily reaction for some players, mean their hands swell. This is linked to the humidity around the course, and a by product of this means a lot of players glove size increased. Shouldn't be too much of a problem in the U.K at the moment! With over 75% of the field trusting FJ, the global trust in FJ is clear to see.FJ #1 Shoe & Glove in Golf.
Luke Donald upset the top seed and world's #1 ranked player Sunday to win the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. On a day that tested every facet of his game in wildly changing weather conditions, Luke relied upon the unparalleled performance and comfort of FJ ICON golf shoes customized with his own style through the MyJoys program (black base/black caiman gator accent). On a bizarre final day in the high desert, which began with snow covering the fairways, Donald pulled ahead for good with a birdie on the par-5 11th and a par on the next hole, eventually wining 3-and-2. Donald played only 89 holes in six matches and never trailed in any of them. In fact, he led after 81 of those holes. The victory was Donald’s first on the PGA TOUR in just under five years and the third of his career. His last win came in 2006 at The Honda Classic. With the victory, Donald climbs from ninth to a career-high third in the Official World Golf Ranking. “It’s hard to put into words right now (what this means to me),” Donald said “It certainly is some, I guess, pay back for all the hard work I have done. I have a lot of people to thank.”Donald needed just 73 holes to reach the final, beating the record of 77 set in 2003. His Accenture Match Play Championship record has improved to 16-10."It couldn’t have gone any better — not to get to the 18th hole in any match this week and pretty much go through reasonably stress-free," Donald said. "I played solid this week. It’s nice to get the victory."
Luke Donald (FJ ICON MyJoys) bested Lee Westwood (DryJoys Tour #53635 and SciFlex) in a playoff to capture the European Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. The players faced brutal conditions all week and they both finished the tournament at 6 under, 278 total. On the first playoff hole Donald safely pitched his 3rd shot onto the green within 6 feet, placing the pressure on Westwood to match him. Westwood's approach would land on the green only to spin back into the water. Donald would then hole his six footer for the victory. The win moves Donald to number one on the Official World Golf Rankings, supplanting his fellow countryman Westwood.
Donald is embracing his new status stating, “It doesn't get much better. I'm not sure if there will ever be a case
where Number One and Number Two in the world are playing off for the
tournament, but also a chance for the Number One ranking in the world. A
unique history I think has been made, and glad to be a part of it.”

Two weeks ago Luke Donald lost the world number one ranking to Rory McIlroy after holding it for 40 consecutive weeks. This week, Englishman Luke Donald, wearing custom FJ ICON MyJoys, emerged from a four man playoff to win the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook Golf Resort to reclaim the world number one ranking.
Beginning the day three strokes off of the 54-hole lead, Donald shot a flawless bogey free, five under par 66 to tie Robert Garrigus (FJ SPORT) and two other competitors for a sudden death playoff.
Donald, teeing off last in the playoff, narrowly missed his tee shot to the right rough. Hitting his approach shot first, Donald took dead aim striking a mid iron to within five feet of the hole. His playing competitors could not muster similar brilliance on their approaches and fell outside of Donald. With all of his playing competitors missing their birdie bids, Donald had the five footer for the win and the world number one ranking. Luke stroked the putt and watched it curl into the left side of the cup for the victory.
Luke Donald still has his eyes on this seasons first major stating, "I feel like I've achieved a lot in my career but this is perfect
preparation. I've got two weeks off now and can look forward to Augusta."
Rory McIlroy also chimed via twitter on the Englishman supplanting him as the top ranked golfer, "Well I enjoyed it while it lasted! Congrats @LukeDonald! Impressive performance!"

Jason Dufner has been on the cusp of winning several tournaments in the past two years and today he fulfilled his potential by claiming the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Through the first three rounds of play, Dufner shot rounds of 67-65-67 to sit atop the leaderboard at 17-under par, two clear of his competition heading into Sunday's final round.
Dufner, wearing XPS-1 and FJ Apparel, started off the day with five straight pars before a bogey on the sixth hole that dropped him from the lead. He rebounded quickly with back-to-back birdies on seven and eight to retake the top spot. Dufner added another birdie at 10 to retain his lead. Then after several gutsy back nine par saves, Dufner's drive on the par four 16th found a hazard. With an alligator lurking nearby, Dufner wisely took a drop and hit his ball to the right side of the green. Now looking at 40-plus feet for par to stay tied for the lead, Dufner calmly rolled in the improbable putt to keep his momentum. After grinding out two more pars on 17 and 18, Dufner was headed to a sudden death playoff.
Both players exchanged pars on the opening playoff hole and they headed back to the 18th tee for the third time today. This time Dufner seized the moment, hitting the par five 18th in two shots and making a routine two putts for birdie and the victory. This is Dufner's first PGA Tour win. Post round Dufner stated of his winning performance, "I am really, really excited and to get the monkey off my back is a great feeling".
Luke Donald (FJ ICON MyJoys) also put on an impressive performance, shooting a final round 67 to finish solo third and retaking the number one spot on the Official World Golf Rankings.

“I’ve been playing very nicely the last four months, not making a lot of mistakes, but just not sinking enough putts,” said Aiken, continuing, “This week a few went in, I hit some better iron shots which gave me a better chance to sink some putts, and I played some phenomenal golf.”

Billy Horschel claimed his first PGA Tour victory by tying the course record eight under par-64 to win the Zurich Classic. The 26-year old began the final day two strokes back of the lead and wasted little time catching the leaders, carding four birdies on the front nine for a 32. Continuing his red hot play, Horschel made consecutive birdies at 10, 11, and 12 to race to the top of the leaderboard.
Dropping a stroke at the 15th, Billy rebounded with a birdie at the following hole to keep the lead. Needing a birdie at the par five final hole to wrap up the victory, Horschel drained a 27 foot birdie bid and exploded into emotion at the realization that he is now a PGA Tour winner.

Being no stranger to the big stage, 2011 Fedex Cup Champion Bill Haas found victory at the always-daunting Congressional Country Club.
Beginning the day in a four way tie for first place, Haas knew he could not just back into the title. Haas made an early birdie at the second before giving a stroke back to par at the 5th.
Even par for the day heading into the 8th, Haas rolled in a 12 foot birdie to reach 8 under for the tourney. On the following hole, Haas hit another brilliant approach setting up another birdie. Then on the treacherous par 3 tenth, Haas rolled in his third consecutive birdie to take a two shot lead over fellow FJ Staffer Roberto Castro.
Castro stuck with Haas over the back nine but could not chip away at his lead. Haas led by at least two over the entire back nine and calmly rolled in a three foot putt for par at the last to take home the title.
"I just kept the ball in front of me,'' Haas said. "Nothing too crazy.'' Always humble, Haas adds a fifth PGA Tour win to his record and moves to 7th in the 2013 Fedex Cup race.
