The 115th playing of the U.S. Open Championship is shaping up to be one that will be remembered for all time. The course, Chambers Bay, is for the most part unknown by the players and caddies. Only a few players in this Open also competed at the 2010 U.S. Amateur.
In typical U.S. Open fashion, the 610-acre former sand and gravel quarry, should provide the world's best all they can handle as they traverse the dried out humps and bumps of Chambers Bay!
Here are a few of our favorite images from the practice rounds.
John Senden took home the Valspar Championship with a final round one under par 70 to win by one stroke over fellow FJ Staffer, Kevin Na. Senden shot up the leaderboard thanks to a third round 64 that left him two shy of the 54 hole lead. Senden's Sunday chase began with a birdie on the opening hole. Conditions, then, toughened as the winds picked up making scoring even more difficult across the brutal Copperhead course. But out in one under par 34, Senden had a chance to take home the title. To heighten his chances at victory, he birdied two of the three difficult holes that make up the course's "Snake Pit". Adding a long two putt for par at the last gave Senden the lead in the clubhouse that sustained despite the players still on the course.
No player could match the seven under par total giving John Senden his first PGA Tour Victory since 2006. "If I could just stay in the moment, I knew I was swinging well enough to give it a shake," Senden said of his chances to win. The Australian relied on FJ Icon golf shoes and the Pure Touch Limited glove en route to victory. Kevin Na shot a fearless six under par 65 to win the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Na wearing the new black and white asymmetrical FJ ICON started his final round tied at the top of the leaderboard with two time 2011 PGA Tour winner Nick Watney (FJ Sport), Na knew the the tournament would not be given to him. He would have to go out and take it.
Na responded to the challenge brilliantly with birdies on three of his first four holes, taking an early two stroke lead over the proven winner Watney. However, after a Na bogey, Watney would pull even on the par three fourteenth at 20-under par.
The bogey seemed to awaken Na as he rattled off three straight birdies (15-17) to take control of the tournament at 23-under par. On the final hole both players exchanged pars and Na joined the ranks as a PGA Tour winner.
