Jay Haas comes from a distinguished family of professional golfers. He is the nephew of 1968 Masters winner Bob Goalby, his second son Bill currently competes on the PGA Tour, as did his oldest son Jay Jr., brother Jerry Haas, and brother-in-law Dillard Pruitt, now a Rules Official on the Champions Tour. Raised in Illinois, Jay attended Wake Forest University where he was part of, what Golf World magazine has called, "the greatest college team of all time." His PGA Tour career spanned more than 25 years and featured nine victories and selections to three Ryder Cup teams. He has distinguished himself as one of the greatest players ever on the Champions Tour where he's amassed more than a dozen wins, including multiple major championships. Jay is recognized as one of the true gentlemen and ambassadors for the game of golf. He received the 2004 Payne Stewart Award for upholding the traditions of golf and was honored in 2005 with the Jim Murray Award from the Golf Writers Association of America. He was also named the 2005 recipient of the Bob Jones Award, the United States Golf Association's highest honor for distinguished sportsmanship. Haas was also inducted into the South Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and is a member of the Wake Forest Hall of Fame.Jay Haas is recognized as an icon not only his distinguished record on the golf course, but for his lifetime of service as a role model for players at all levels.
